Tahoe South Press Releases
Tahoe’s Famed Fireworks to Fill July 4 Sky
The long standing family tradition takes flight with the South Lake Tahoe’s annual "Lights on the Lake," recognized as one of the nation's best and “must see” firework displays from the likes of MSN, Yahoo.com, NBC's Today Show and the Discovery Channel.
Consistently attracting more than 100,000 visitors, the synchronized music and light show at South Shore continues to draw the attention and ratings of heavyweight online websites, newspapers, magazines and TV programs. This has likely prompted sold-out bookings that ignite through the holiday and beyond this summer.
“We’re thrilled the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority will be presenting this year’s fireworks show, continuing a 33-year Independence Day tradition at the Lake,” says John Koster, regional president of Caesars Entertainment in Northern Nevada, which includes Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe, and Harrah’s Reno casino resorts. Koster is also a board member of the South Tahoe Association of Resorts and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “The positive social and economic impact of this spectacular, world-class fireworks display for Lake Tahoe residents, visitors and businesses cannot be overstated.”
With the Sierra Nevada and lake as a backdrop, the 25-minute display is choreographed by NAFCO to hit rock/pop songs along with traditional favorites that include Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Steve Miller, Elton John, Adele, Ray Charles, and Whitney Houston.
The best viewing spots for the 9:45 p.m. show around South Shore’s beaches include: Lakeview Commons/El Dorado Beach area, Nevada Beach, Timber Cove Marina, Edgewood Tahoe (www.edgewoodtahoe.com), and on the lake aboard M.S. Dixie II and Tahoe Queen Paddlewheelers (http://www.zephyrcove.com/) or private boat rentals.
Holiday visitors can expect the fireworks show to burst into unusual and whimsical shapes such as jellyfish, stars, butterflies and smiley faces while being simulcast on local radio stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490. (http://www.krltfm.com/) "Lights on the Lake" is sponsored by the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority.
