Tahoe South to Host Ski Writers National Convention, March 5-9
Feb. 29, 2012 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – Travel and ski journalists representing national magazines, newspapers, websites, blogs and social media outlets will descend upon Tahoe South, March 5-9, for the North American Snowsports Journalist Association National Conference. The event is designed to generate significant editorial coverage for the area as a leading winter destination.
The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (https://tahoesouth.com) will host 75 journalists and guests to showcase the region and provide attendees an authentic flavor for the area, its residents and the activities that make Lake Tahoe a national treasure.
Members attending this conference represent the Associated Press, SKI Magazine, Snow.com, San Francisco Chronicle, Sacramento Bee, Examiner.com, 7x7 Magazine, San Jose Mercury News, LA Daily Breeze, Contra Costa Times, Trenton (New Jersey) Times and NJ.com.
“The NASJA conference is an effective way to provide media ‘wild side’ experiences that differentiate the Tahoe South brand from other ski destinations,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “Results will be significant coverage of our resort community through newspaper, magazine and website content.”
In addition to overall destination stories, updates on major plans that will affect the future of Tahoe South and the entire area will be provided. Brian Krolicki, Lieutenant Governor of Nevada, will discuss the 2022 Reno/Tahoe Winter Olympics bid; Mike Bradford, Chief Executive Officer at Lakeside Inn and Casino will provide an overview of the South Shore Vision Plan; Carl Hasty, District Manager, Tahoe Transportation District, will cover the US 50/South Shore Community Revitalization Project.
Milena Regos, a Certified Social Media Marketer and principal of Out&About Marketing, a digital and social media firm, will conduct a professional development seminar for media on integrating social media to connect, engage and build online communities.
Media will also be provided story ideas regarding local personalities, residents and information on area sustainability, geo-tourism and environmental issues.
