South Tahoe Alliance of Resorts Donates $15,000 to Local Non-Profits This Holiday Season
The South Tahoe Alliance of Resorts has provided a total of $15,000, $5,000 each – to three community organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe, Christmas Cheer, and Live Violence Free this holiday season.
“We appreciate the support from STAR during a time when there’s a lot of need throughout our region,” said Tom Davis, board member of Christmas Cheer. “These organizations each give to our community on multiple levels and make a difference in many lives.”
The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe offers programs and services to South Lake Tahoe area youth, used the $5,000 to purchase equipment including new desks, chairs, computers, and laptops.
“Technology upgrades for our programs are always needed and STAR really helped us,” said Jude Wood, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club. “We are grateful to have a collaborative like STAR that helps our community.”
A $5,000 contribution was made through Raley’s to Christmas Cheer. The money will help keep the South Lake Tahoe pantry stocked with food, especially during periods of peak demand. Christmas Cheer provides food for residents monthly.
Live Violence Free is committed to education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and basic needs. STAR’s $5,000 donation will support needed maintenance to the confidential shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
STAR is comprised of Edgewood Companies, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe, Harrah’s/Harveys Lake Tahoe, Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, Lakeside Inn and Casino, MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, and Vail Resorts. The companies work collaboratively on community economic and sustainability issues, including a charity component.
