Tahoe South Press Releases
Mother Nature Delivers 8-12 Inches and Counting of Snow to America’s Best Ski Destination
Pray for snow requests were heard loud and clear as Mother Nature dropped 8-12 inches of snow at Tahoe South, America's Best Ski Destination (USA Today, Jan. 2014) in the last 24 hours and it’s still snowing. (https://tahoesouth.com)
The arrival has secured plans for more trails and terrain access at Heavenly Mountain Resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe and Kirkwood. Snowmaking efforts and December storms laid the foundation for quality conditions with top to bottom coverage. With a break in the high pressure ridge the outlook for more snow on the way looks better every day.
"This is the break we've been looking for," said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. "The recent snowfall is a good base on what we already have at area resorts. There’s lots of skiing/riding left in the season and we’re anxious to see if Farmers’ Almanac is correct in its prediction for a snowy February.”
