Media & Public Invited to Amgen Tour of California Training Ride with California Pro Cyclist Peter Stetina at Lake Tahoe
Peter Stetina, an American professional cyclist for Trek-Segafredo, will be training in the area as he gears up for the 2018 Amgen Tour of California and Stage 6 at Lake Tahoe’s South Shore (May 18). Media and cycling enthusiasts are invited to “train” with Stetina, who splits his stateside time between the Tahoe area and Santa Rosa, Calif., on a training ride that will cover part of the
Amgen Tour of California route. The ride toward Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a tamer version of the actual race course that includes the grueling Kingsbury Grade of which Stetina said, “I do all my altitude training in Lake Tahoe, and I love that climb.”
The Amgen Tour of California is an annual Tour de France-style cycling road race that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course the traverses hundreds of miles of California’s iconic highways, byways and coastlines. Stetina placed 6th overall in the 2014 edition (of 128 competitors).
