Full Service Information Headquarters For South Tahoe Visitors Relocates
Dec. 11, 2018 (SOUTH LAKE TAHOE Calif./Nev.) – The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority’s South Shore visitor center has relocated to a central site at the Heavenly Village. The information headquarters “Explore Tahoe” will help familiarize guests with the area’s hottest attractions, hidden gems, and local Lake knowledge to confidently and comfortably navigate a memorable stay. Explore Tahoe is located at 4114 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Highway 50, the main artery through South Lake Tahoe, CA. It’s next door to Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, approximately 400 yards from the Heavenly Village and the Nevada state line. Open daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Day, Dec. 25. The center features displays of the area’s geology, history, points of interest, a topographical relief map, films about Lake Tahoe and a children’s discovery center. An energetic, in-the-know staff is available to answer questions, provide insights and recommendations regarding activities, recreation, events, restaurants, wildlife and environmental topics. The facility will provide guests with an interactive and informative starting point for a comprehensive South Shore adventure.
“Learning more about the destination and what makes it so special is part of the experience,” said Lauren Thomaselli, recreation superintendent for the City of South Lake Tahoe. “Just seeing Explore Tahoe will be part of an enjoyable visit with displays that reinforce Tahoe’s national reputation as a leading outdoor and indoor recreation destination.”
“The access to this location will prove extremely convenient for our visitors,” said Carol Chaplin, president and CEO of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “The Heavenly Village is one of the area’s most popular spots for shopping and dining and of course the Heavenly Gondola.”
The facility is located next to a public transportation hub for visitors and residents utilizing public the Tahoe Transportation District bus system. Explore Tahoe was created through an interagency effort including Tahoe Transportation District, California Tahoe Conservancy, Heavenly Mountain Resort, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Tahoe Heritage Foundation, United States Forest Service and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. It was opened in 2007 by the City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department.
The LTVA continues to operate the Visitor Center at 169 Highway 50, Stateline, NV.
