Determining Factors

Want to smack a ball with a stick in one of the most beautiful places on earth?

Golfing at Lake Tahoe runs from the very affordable to luxury. The muni course in the center of town is a champagne course with beer expenses. There are two courses that fit in the middle of the expense spectrum and one course at a five star resort that supplies all the luxury one would expect.

Affordable to Luxury Golfing

Bijou Municipal Golf Course is in the center of South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe’s oldest golf course. The nine hole course is set in a beautiful meadow with views of Heavenly Mountain Resort and the Kit Carson Range. The course is a combination of open fairways that make it hard to lose a ball with enough dog legs and shrubbery to challenge strong golfers’ skills. While you won’t find a fancy clubhouse, the cost of playing in 2020 was $18. Pull carts are $5 if you don’t have one. There are family deals, too.

Tahoe Paradise Golf Course is a dream come true for those that like their irons, accuracy and a challenge. It’s set in towering pines in Meyers about 4 miles from South Lake Tahoe. There’s a pro shop and snack bar that features hot dogs. Tahoe Paradise is another affordable option, especially for those that want to play from a cart. The most expensive round in 2020 was $65 with a cart from 8am-2pm. The walking twilight fee that begins at 4pm was only $22. The course has a number of affordable rates determined by the time of day and whether one wants a cart.

Edgewood Tahoe is for those that want the ultimate Lake Tahoe golf experience. Edgewood Tahoe is the only golf course on Lake Tahoe and the only golf course with a five star hotel adjacent to it, the Lodge at Edgewood. The scenery is timeless Tahoe, the sapphire blue of the lake ringed by granite peaks covered with towering pines, small lakes and creeks run through it. The clubhouse and the Lodge are like stepping back into the grandeur of old Tahoe architecture. The wood and rock used in the interior and exterior are magnificent and the views to the west of Lake Tahoe, Mt. Tallac and the Sierra are awe inspiring. 2020 weekday fees were $275 and weekend $300. Twilight weekdays at $225 were the least expensive.  Listed room rates at the Lodge at Edgewood begin at about $500 a night.
