The Tahoe: Cruise your way into an awesome night!
So, I had an opportunity to spend an evening on the Tahoe cruiser with several friends. This was so much fun! The Tahoe has been cruising on Lake Tahoe since 1950 and is entirely built out of wood. The boat was fully restored at one point and can carry up to 21 passengers. The cruiser leaves out of Zephyr Cove Resort and offers public cruises Tuesdays through Saturdays to Thunderbird Lodge which includes a light continental breakfast, walking tour of the Thunderbird Lodge and property, and picnic style lunch on the property before you cruise back. They also offer private charters and can go anywhere on the lake.
We left the resort at 5:30pm and started our private cruise off to Vikingsholm in Emerald Bay. It was a beautiful evening. We had a total of 17 people on the boat. We popped some music on and enjoyed the cruise towards Emerald Bay with drinks and good times with friends. Below are a few pictures.
Once we reached Emerald Bay, we slowed and turned off the motor at Vikingsholm. We ate some sandwiches while Stacy, the Captain, gave us the historical spiel about the “castle”. It’s always great to learn something new about Tahoe! Below are more pictures from Emerald Bay.
It took about an hour to reach Emerald Bay so we stayed there for about 15 minutes prior to heading back to Zephyr Cove. Below are some evening pictures on the water of the fiery sun:
To get to Zephyr Cove Resort, drive on Highway 50 towards Cave Rock. The resort will be on your left. It does cost $8 to park inside Zephyr Cove Resort. If you choose to park on the side of Highway 50, please note that this is a busy roadway, and use caution.
Great captain and great crew! Don’t miss out. They run from May 15th to October 15th so make sure to book your trip now! If not this year, definitely try next year. To book, call (775) 230-8907 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Have you cruised on the Tahoe yet? If so, make a comment below!
