Yoga: Let there be love everywhere

The practice of yoga can be challenging, frustrating, and down-right exhausting but, there's something about it that makes you feel happy, blissed-out, and over-joyed.

If you're doing it right, yoga is all about feeling the love.

Partner and group yoga sessions are one of my favorite ways to introduce yoga. It can be nerve racking to walk into a yoga class for the first time. At Lake Tahoe Yoga, we want everyone to feel comfortable at least trying the practice once. When trying something new, sometimes all you need is the support of a friend or loved one. Sometimes, you just need to feel loved.

I always say that Lake Tahoe Yoga was built on the idea that everyone can do yoga anywhere. I truly believe this. It's not just about being in the studio and listening to a teacher, it's about taking the practice with you no matter where you go. Even with beginners, I try to explain that yoga is more than just postures. It's about how you interact with others and the world around you.

The practice of yoga can be challenging, frustrating, down-right exhausting but, there's something about it that makes you feel happy, blissed out, over-joyed. If you're doing it right, yoga is all about feeling the love. As we practice together and suffer through the discomforts of the poses while doing our best to breathe, we support each other. While we move through the postures, we feel the energy of those around us. If we spread loving energy, then we receive it in return.

The Yoga Sutra tells us:

1.33 "In relationships, the mind becomes purified by cultivating feelings of friendliness towards those who are happy, compassion for those who are suffering, goodwill towards those who are virtuous, and indifference or neutrality towards those we perceive as wicked or evil."

Even though you may be faced with anger, hatred, violence, etc. By engaging in it, you are spreading it. If we interact with every person and every situation from a place of love, then we can spread love. Want to really practice yoga? Then, spread the love.
