“Dream Life” short film awards – call for entries
Two things we all know about Lake Tahoe: One, it’s amazingly beautiful. Two, there are endless opportunities to do fun stuff outdoors. A third thing we quickly learn: wherever you go, you can bet you'll find someone with a camera shooting footage of this fun stuff in this beautiful place.
For filmmakers who call the Lake Tahoe region “home,” a new film festival is offering cash prizes for short films that capture the energy, beauty, and talent of Lake Tahoe’s action sports lifestyle.
Tahoe-region based filmmakers are encouraged to submit short (six minutes or less) films in one of nine categories, including water sports, air sports, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and adaptive sports. Films will be judged on content, ability, and creativity. Entries are due February 15, 2016.
Mountain Resort Television, in partnership with Sky Tavern, is offering over $10,000 in awards in the inaugural “The Dream Life Short Film Awards,” April 30 at MontBleu Resort on Lake Tahoe's south shore.
In addition to being featured at the festival, finalists in each category will be highlighted during several 30-minute television broadcasts. Winning films in each category will be awarded $1,000 cash prizes and the top film of the year – based on audience votes – will be awarded a $2,500 cash prize. Awards will be presented by a cast of top Tahoe regional athletes, including JT Holmes, Daron Rahlves, and Maddie Bowman.
