Summer Events in South Lake Tahoe
Sun-drenched beaches, cool blue lake waters, rolling biking and hiking trails, action-packed concerts, events and nightlife is what puts the wild side into Tahoe South's summer energy. There's a reason why Lake Tahoe is known as a playground with endless possibilities; there's enough to do and see here to fill and entire summer and then some.
Here are some of my favorite summer events in South Lake Tahoe:
The 29th Annual American Century Championship: Where other than Tahoe South can you see celebrity actors tee up with some of America's best known athletes of the past and present? Edgewood Tahoe is home for the event that hosts NFL, NBA, MLB, and Celebrities such as Stephen Curry, Tony Romo, Charles Barkley, Justin Timberlake, Ray Romano and more than 80 celebrities for the 54-hole tournament.
The 25th Annual Valhalla Renaissance Fair: Grab a turkey drumstick, slip into Old English character and see for yourself the pleasures and pageantry dished up at this Elizabethan country fair. Costumed players will perform at Camp Richardson Historic Resort and Marina in the shady lanes and byways, and sell their wares from market stalls filled with one-of-a-kind handmade crafts.
America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride: Cheer on more than 3000 cyclists as they take on the elevation changes and switchback challenges of the scenic 72-mile route around Lake Tahoe.
Lights on the Lake Fourth of July: Nationally recognized as one of the top Fourth of July celebrations! If you don’t have your own vessel, the best viewing spots are around South Shore’s sandy beaches or on board The M.S. Dixie II Paddlewheeler.
