Spring Loaded 2019
Ah... spring in Lake Tahoe. A deep snowpack, bountiful sunshine & goggle tans. Nothing beats it. And to make it even better, we’re bringing back Spring Loaded. That’s right! Three weeks packed with events on AND off the slopes. So, if you didn’t know, now ya know. Check out a sample from the 2019 Spring Loaded roundup below. Be sure to see the full schedule for many more events all over town.
Fun On The Snow
You can’t say “spring” without the annual classic Gunbarrel 25, happening on March 30th. Brave souls attempt to ski and/or snowboard down one of Tahoe’s iconic runs, known locally as “the Face”, under the namesake lift 25 times (or more) before the lifts stop turning.
Or for those that love banked slalom events, check out Sierra-at-Tahoe’s Methodology on March 16th. Combining speed & style, this Vans sponsored competition includes a finish with a two-sided hip allowing riders to shave off time with their best Method Air.
What about Big Mountain freeriding? If you love it like we do, don’t miss out on the Tahoe Freeride World Tour qualifier happening at Kirkwood. From April 2nd – 6th, expect to see big airs & massive tricks all being done on the legendary natural terrain & snow conditions the “Wood” is known for.
Off the Slope Extravaganzas
After a morning of harvesting “corn” of the ski variety, enjoy another type of harvest – BEER, as part of the Spring Loaded 5K Run & Brewfest on March 29th & 30th. Enjoy libations from over 30 breweries, spirits, Kombucha & soda tastings. Don’t forget to grab your friends & register for the 5K run with proceeds going to the Sierra Avalanche Center.
For those looking for something a bit more personalized & exclusive, the Spring Loaded Brew Bus Tour is right up your “alley”. Kicking off on the spring equinox (March 20th or 21st), you’ll have the opportunity to get an insider’s view of our local breweries on the South Tahoe beer trail, taste their concoctions & enjoy a few snacks as well. Book your seat now because space is limited.
As other parts of ski country start slowing down in the spring, Tahoe South turns it up! With a 24-hour nightlife, mid-week entertainment, and loud outfits, let’s just say you’ll come home energized.
