Pumpkins and ponies in South Lake Tahoe

The latest family fun event to hit Tahoe South is the Inaugural Pony & Pumpkin Festival. These free, fall inspired festivities will take place at the Forest Suites Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California, October 12 & 13, from 11am to 6pm.
- Live music by Lake Tahoe local band Class Act and by CW & Mr. Spoons out of Carson City
- Demonstrations by the Carson Valley Historical Society, Cowboy Poets, and a Native American singer
- Arts and crafts - including crochet and knitting, pine cone turkeys, and pumpkin decorating with Tahoe Youth & Family Services - for all ages
- Face painting, games for prizes, and a bounce house for the little ones!
Borges Sleigh & Carriage Rides is bringing out their beautiful ponies and horses -$10 for pony rides or a family wagon ride around Van Sickle Bi-State Park is just $1 for children and $5 for adults. Fully costumed Pony Express riders will be handing out junior badges and spreading awareness on the work they do. The National Forest Foundation will be on site giving tours of the property to teach about native Sierra Nevada plants, flowers, and trees.
The Lions Club will serve hamburgers and hot dogs, and warm drinks including hot chocolate, cider, and coffee will be available for purchase. Attendees can shop a variety of local vendors, from wood woodworks to pottery. Come in your finest Western Wear – plaid, denim, boots, hats – and get into the Oktoberfest spirit.
