Tahoe South celebrates the last official hurrah of summer with a weekend full of music, big boats, trail running, local food and wine, and fireworks - whew! Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect this Labor Day Weekend on the South Shore of the "Best Lake in America."
Friday, Aug. 30
Brad Paisley at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys
There’s no better way to kick off a long weekend than by wearing your cowboy boots! This show is bound to be a crowd-pleaser - with nine studio albums and 18 #1 singles, Brad Paisley is one of the most popular singers in American country music today. Sing along to hits like, “Mud on the Tires,” “Alcohol,” and “Beat this Summer.”
Saturday, Aug. 31
Great Sternwheeler Race
All aboard! at 10:00 AM for the 21st Annual Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race. The race pits South Shore’s two Mississippi paddlewheelers, The Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie II, in a four-mile race along the shoreline to determine the coveted Tahoe Cup and lake supremacy. Join the party aboard either boat for an only-at-Tahoe experience with memories, brunch and drink specials.

Sunday, Sept. 1
Heavenly Mountain Run
The Heavenly Mountain Run takes runners from the California Base Lodge of Heavenly Mountain Resort at 6,565-feet up Maggie’s and along the California Trail to Tamarack Lodge at 9,150. Finishers will be greeted by cheering fans and enjoy post-race food, drinks, and activities for all ages. Runners can enjoy a scenic ride down the Heavenly Gondola or descend on their own.

4th Annual Sample the Sierra Farm-to-Fork Festival
The highlight of Labor Day weekend is this food and wine festival on Ski Run Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Sample the Sierra attracts more than 1,500 food and wine lovers to sample delicious finger foods paired with the diverse flavors of El Dorado County wines. This year, enjoy live music performed by Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers, a chefs’ cooking competition, full marketplace of locally handmade goods, and the breathtaking views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

Labor Day Fireworks
Just as we welcome the official start to the season with July 4th fireworks in South Lake Tahoe, we like to send off summer with the same fanfare. The fireworks are visible from all over town.
