3 Great reasons to visit Tahoe South in April
April is one of the best months to visit Tahoe as the crowds are gone, the days are longer and the parties are still going on. If you need additional reasons to plan your trip, below you will find some of my favorite activities to do in Tahoe in April - ski, eat, drink, hike, repeat.
1. The best spring skiing in Tahoe will be this year
Heavenly Mountain's season is expected to go through April 28th plus 3-day weekend May 3-5. With tons of events in April, you won’t be bored or feeling too lonely on the slopes. After all, they claim to have the best Apres Ski Parties in Tahoe. But be prepared to have the entire mountain to yourself most of the day so hopefully, you like solitude in addition to views like these.
Kirkwood Mountain is planning to stay open until April 14th plus 3-day weekend April 19-21. You can always check in first with their live webcams before your trip and see what the conditions are like.
2. The best International Food and Drinks Apres Ski Spots in Tahoe South
There are some favorite spots for Apres Parties in Tahoe South but there are also some that would appeal to the serious foodie or drink connoisseurs. The bartenders at Jimmy’s Restaurant at The Landing Tahoe can prepare a phenomenal craft cocktail while you kick up your feet around the fireplace on the patio overlooking Lake Tahoe.
When you get hungry you can order a bite from Jimmy’s restaurant and trust me, they have a lot to choose from. Their Greek flavor cuisine is amazing, and they are known for some tasty appetizers.
If you are in a mood for something German, then I recommend the Himmel Haus. Plenty of German beers to choose from and of course pretzels and sausages for the hungry souls with other food options available.
If German doesn’t appeal to your palate after a long day of skiing moguls, then maybe Scottish is what’s in store for you at Macduff's Pub in South Lake Tahoe. Who won’t enjoy a real shepherd’s pie after a long day of skiing groomers and Sierra corn. Of course, they offer lots of other options to choose from their menu in addition to the classic corned beef and cabbage and steak and Guinness stew you expect to find in a Scottish pub.
I can’t even imagine what the waterfalls will be like this year with all of the snow we have received. All I can say is, get ready for Spectacular sights. Read about the top 5 waterfalls to check out in Tahoe South and of course, check out the Tahoe South waterfall guide.
