Embarking onto the cobalt blue waters of Tahoe is a must for all who visit this gem of the Sierra. For those with their own boats, there are plenty of amenities for boaters of all types and skill levels – from public launch sites and harbors to high end marinas. An experienced boater? Head to one of the many popular piers like Timber Cove Marina, The Marina at Zephyr Cove Resort, Camp Richardson Historic Resort & Marina, and Tahoe Keys Marina to rent a vessel that you can shove off on.

An even better option for the first-time visitor is to consider heading out on a cruise. From the classic booze cruises to a simple excursion around Lake Tahoe to see places like Emerald Bay, you’ll find a voyage that fits what you’re looking for.

What to Expect for the upcoming Boating Season

Among the improvements we are making to the watercraft inspection process this year is an optional appointment system that will be available for a small convenience fee. Each inspection station will offer appointments in addition to the normal drop-in service. The appointment system will be available at www.tahoeboatinspections.com on May 1. Please show up to your appointment Clean, Drained, and Dry.

We also updated inspection fees making minimal changes to maintain high standards of customer service. Inspections and decontamination for non-motorized watercraft are available for free at all stations. Inspections are not required as long as the paddle craft are Clean, Drained, and Dry. Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted at the inspection stations.
