Valhalla’s “Music on the Lawn”

By: Kerry Hawk

Celebrate Father’s Day with “Music on the Lawn” at Valhalla in Lake Tahoe. Listen to great music, enjoy local culinary flavors and sip wine from noon to 2 pm on Sunday, June 17.

On the beautiful Valhalla Grand Lawn, the South Tahoe High School will open the celebration with their 20-piece band. The Big Band sound will feature classics from the 40s swing era along with a few newer pieces that everyone will know. Following the Big Band, the South Tahoe High School Jazz Band will perform “Sing, Sing, Sing,” featuring their talented senior drummer.

Following the South Tahoe High School bands, “Exceeding 55” will perform. For many things, you are never too old to get started. Such is the case with this band, whose members haven’t slowed down a bit. All long-time Tahoe locals, Exceeding 55 features acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. Specializing in a beautiful blend of three part harmony, the band creates their take on a variety of songs from the 60s forward, with an occasional original thrown in for fun.

To top off this great event, Yum Truck will be providing a delectable choice of food. And yes, wine will be served!

For a special day with dad, or to enjoy great music in a beautiful historic setting by the lake, plan on being at Valhalla this Sunday.
