Happy hour the Tahoe South way

As a member of the Tahoe South chapter of the Girls’ Drinking Club, I consider myself an aficionado of a good drink.  And a good deal. Over the past few years, my fellow club members and I have diligently researched many of the happy hours along Lake Tahoe's South Shore. Below are a few of our favorites.

Blue Angel Café– Its daily happy hour runs from 3-6 pm includes rotating food options (like artisanal tater tots) and drink specials. Our favorite is Wine Therapy Thursdays, where you can save 50% off any bottle of wine if you mention you’re there for “therapy.” If you like stronger stuff, the Bloody Mary has quite a kick!

Himmel Haus – A relative newcomer to Tahoe South, this authentic Germany style pub and restaurant is the real deal when it comes to German biers. Happy hour runs 4-6 pm and includes $2 off all beer. Don’t leave without ordering the pretzel bread – you’ll be glad you did. Check out their dinner menu here.

Kalani’s – Think Pacific Rim. Think huge happy hour menu. Think creative cocktails, beer, wine and shots. Think so? Then check out its Puka Lounge!

Riva Grill – Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 4-6:30pm, and includes views of the lake, occasional live music, and discounts on select menu items along with beer, wine and their signature Wet Woody. Two words – coconut prawns. You've been warned. If you are visiting around the holidays, they offer delicious special dinner menus as well.

Truth be told, I know I've only scratched the surface here. Where is your favorite happy hour in Tahoe South?  Share in the comments below – and I promise our club will be on its best behavior when we visit!
