Iconic Events in South Lake Tahoe
American Century Celebrity Golf Championship
The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship is a week-long Lake Tahoe event offering spectators the opportunity to watch 80 professional athletes and celebrities compete for their share of the $600,000 Purse and the American Century Championship Cup in a 54-hole tournament. This family-friendly event takes place at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, located in Tahoe South. Celebrities who have previously appeared include Steph Curry, Aaron Rodgers, Ray Romano and Jerry Rice.
Lights on the Lake Fireworks
Every year, thousands of people head to Lake Tahoe for the Fourth of July holiday celebration. There are many places to watch fireworks over the lake, including right here in Tahoe South. Families can watch the sky light up from Nevada Beach, Lakeside Beach, Lakeview Commons, and more. This spectacular sight is one the entire family will enjoy.

Fall Fish Fest
Come celebrate the annual fall migration of the Kokanee salmon during the Fall Fish Fest at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center here in Tahoe South. Fish Fest is a two-day event held each fall, celebrating the dramatic and colorful spawning behaviors of the Kokanee Salmon. The Festival is a family event encouraging participation by children and their parents in a wide variety of educational and entertaining activities.

New Year’s Eve at Heavenly
This event takes place at Heavenly Ski Resort on New Year’s Eve each year when fire, lights, and music fill the air. Live music begins at 4:30 pm, and at 9:00 pm, in time for the midnight Ball Drop in New York City’s Time Square, Heavenly’s Gondola Ball Drop will cross above the crowd and the most spectacular fireworks display that has ever hit the Heavenly Village. The party continues into the night at one of the many casino nightclubs.
Rock Tahoe Half Marathon
The Rock Tahoe Half Marathon, a 13.1-mile course, starts at Spooner Summit and drops over 1,000 feet as it winds its way down Highway 50 along the stunning East Shore of Lake Tahoe to a finish line at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. There is no shortage of amazing scenery during this Tahoe half marathon. Also, did we mention that it’s mostly downhill?
Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson
Tahoe South’s annual ode to October in German, Oktoberfest includes German food and desserts, an owner and dog dress up contest, craft booths, face painting, pumpkin patch, balloon art, bounce house, bungee platform, climbing wall, live music featuring polka from the “Gruber Family Band,” and the event’s always popular beer and wine garden.
Freaker’s Ball at Montbleu
South Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort presents the Annual Freaker’s Ball Halloween Party each year. This night of haunted happenings includes sultry go-go dancers, a live band, DJs, and drink specials that last all night long. Come in costume for a chance to win cash and prizes.
Valhalla Renaissance Faire
Tahoe’s original Renaissance Faire, Valhalla Renaissance Faire is an annual favorite for Ren-faire addicts and families alike. Come in costume or come as you are and immerse yourself in games, theater, and splendid Renaissance villages and marketplaces. Enjoy seven acres of continuous entertainment on four stages, scores of merchants, over 1,000 actors, hard-hitting, lance-splitting jousting, live sword fighting, children’s games, educational demonstrations, jugglers, and magicians, minstrels, food, beverages, and fun!
Tahoe Brewfest
Kick off the summer with craft brew tastings from all over Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas at Tahoe Brewfest. Enjoy a home brewers’ competition, live music, arts and craft vendors, and delicious food! The festival features breweries from both the North and South shore of the lake, as well as other participants from Northern California and Nevada.
Summer Concert Series
South Lake Tahoe concerts heat up in the summer with the Summer Concert Series taking place at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. This venue hosts some of the hottest music acts under the stars in their 4,000-seat amphitheater with a star-studded lineup. Previous performers include Lady Gaga, Paul Simon and Keith Urban.

Labor Day Lake Tahoe
Before summer segues to fall, Tahoe South will celebrate a Labor Day last call: an amped-up holiday weekend of non-stop activities on and off the water including a Carnival, Art & Music Festival, Laser show at Lakeview Commons, and outdoor and showroom concerts.
Sample the Sierra
Lake Tahoe’s original farm-to-fork festival celebrates the bounty of El Dorado County’s harvest. Enjoy small bites from local chefs and regional restaurants paired with tastings from award-winning wineries, breweries, and more. The much-anticipated Masterchef-style Sierra Chef Challenge is always a highlight!
Spring Loaded
Spring Loaded brings together the best of spring and winter with live music, loud outfits, lodging specials, restaurant deals, and four weekends and three weeks of sun and fun. Festivities include on-mountain events at Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain, Sierra-at-Tahoe, happy hour specials, mid-week entertainment, and LOADS of live events and guest performers!
