Feb. 27, 2011 (South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) – The promise of a major March toward great Spring skiing at Tahoe South (http://www.tahoesouth.com) is being fulfilled with snowfall from a current storm forecast to span the next three days dropping 1 to 2 feet on the mountain and 5 to 12 inches at lake level. Ski resorts, lodging properties and businesses throughout South Shore are being rewarded by a historically faithful friend: March weather, for favorable pre-Easter conditions.
The late February “leap” is welcome news to skier and boarders as well as resort area locals. "March is shaping up perfectly for a late season ride into spring," said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. "Visitors can expect ample amounts of snow to go along with the Sierra sunshine and a full slate of events on and off the mountains."
A fleet of city and state snow removal vehicles around the Lake Tahoe Basin will be keeping the roads clear and safe for travel. Caltrans has current California road conditions at www.dot.ca.gov or 1-800-427-ROAD (7623) or 916-445-7623.
