Grab a spiked hot cocoa, a handful of snow, and embrace the chill at Tahoe South.

When the San Francisco Bay Area is soaking in a dismal rain, Lake Tahoe South Shore is being transformed to a snow-covered winter wonderland. Celebrate winter in the Sierras by going skiing, sledding, snowmobiling or ice skating.

Oh, so you’re a special snowflake non-conformist? You think snowboarding is too pedestrian? What about these lesser-known winter activities? Human Sled Bowling (sculpt ‘pins’ out of snow, place at bottom of hill, ride sled into pins), Snowball Fight Flash Mob, or Snow Unicorn Contest (snowmen are played out, no?).

You can even heed the call of the wild and go dog sledding. (Note: it is not recommended to hook your children up to a dog sled and shout “mush!” at them, even if it would be hilarious.)

Remember: a flask is not a replacement for a parka. Bundle up!
