Arguably the most beautiful marathon in the world, the Lake Tahoe Marathon has grown into a premier, 3-day running festival, attracting thousands of athletes and visitors each year. The festival concludes with the signature marathon and half marathon on Sunday, September 14. Athletes will start in Tahoe City on the North Shore and they will wind their way along the West Shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe. The route includes the world-famous Emerald Bay with views of Vikingsholm Castle and Fanette Island, as well as a trek through the historical sites of Valhalla and Camp Richardson with a beachfront finish at Pope Beach in South Lake Tahoe. The half-marathon event will begin at Rubicon Bay and includes the same picturesque route.
For some people though, 26.2 miles just isn’t far enough. Running fanatics can try their hand at the triple half or triple marathon for three full days of running. Or, they can go after one of the ultras with distances including one, two, or three full laps around Lake Tahoe! On the other end of the spectrum, events including a 5k, 10k, and a Free Kids Fun Run sponsored by the Optimist Club of South Lake Tahoe round out the full weekend of events.
