Saturdays, July & August at 10:00 AM. Follow Smokey’s Trail to learn about campfire safety and find a “photo op” with Smokey. Shake his paw and learn more about wildfire prevention. Watch for Smokey, as he “sniffs” around the Visitor Center.

Stargazing at Spooner Lake State Park
Friday, July 10, 8:30 – 10:00 pm. Where Spooner Lake is located at the intersection of State Route 28 and U.S. 50. Enjoy a laser-guided tour of starry wonders with professional stargazer and astronomy instructor, Gigi Giles. Delight in a unique and educational experience as you peer through high powered telescopes and astronomical binoculars in the tranquil mountain air at elevation 7,000 feet. Guided Wildflower Hikes With Laird Blackwell at Kirkwood
Guided hikes with Laird Blackwell are planned for Saturday at 10 am and again at 1 pm. Sunday there will be one additional hike at 10 am. The hikes are limited to 18 people with advance reservations. The cost for the hike is $35 per person. On the day of the hike please meet outside of the General Store 15 minutes before the start of the hike. Please bring water.
