Vayama visits Lake Tahoe inspiring people to travel internationally
- Allison Tebbe is the Director of Database Marketing for Vayama, an online travel agency focused in international travel. She's bringing the Vayama Go Somewhere Tour to the American Century Championship Golf Tournament today at Edgewood Tahoe.
Sometimes taking the first step toward an international trip is the most difficult, even if you have dreamed of travel for years. Vayama, an online travel agency uniquely focused in international travel, hit the road this summer to help people make their travel dreams a reality. The Vayama Go Somewhere Tour is traveling to 12 unique markets throughout the west coast and southwestern states, encouraging people to think about where in the world they'd like to travel and inspire them to take that first step.
The centerpiece of the tour, currently in Lake Tahoe at the 24th Annual American Century Championship Golf Tournament, is an 18-foot custom-designed truck that invites visitors to experience some of the world's most interesting cities. A fun game show allows players to compete against one another on international trivia, and a custom-created iPad app allows people to navigate an interactive map to learn compelling facts about different cities around the globe, see beautiful images and watch picturesque time-lapsed videos. If people are interested to learn more, the app allows them to easily sign up for destination-specific content on the city of their choosing.
Perhaps the most practical element of the Go Somewhere Tour experience is a passport photo booth. After all, recent statistics reveal that only 39 percent of the country's population has a U.S. passport. For those playing with the idea of taking an international trip, walking away with a passport-ready photo in hand brings them one step closer to actually taking that trip abroad.
Over the course of the tour, people who visit the Go Somewhere Tour truck have the opportunity to enter the Go Somewhere Sweepstakes. One Grand Prize winner will receive an international trip for two on Emirates Airline, plus U.S. $2,000 cash spending money. Twelve lucky First Prize winners (one winner in each market) will receive a U.S. $1,500 travel voucher, redeemable on Vayama.com.
Those who miss the tour in their area are still invited to participate in the Go Somewhere Sweepstakes. They can enter anytime before August 5, 2013 for a chance to win the Grand Prize via Vayama's Facebook page: https://www.wf-site.com/microsite/pages/ec06751275436657.
