Every woman’s outdoor weekend adventure
Imagine this: A women only, 3-day retreat packed with a plethora of outdoor activities, amazing food, wine, beer and some new friends to round out the weekend all set in a spectacular setting built for adventure. This is what the first REI Outessa Summit at Kirkwood Resort embodies.
Start your day by enjoying morning meditations and relaxing vibes in the ENO hammock lounges where you can take some time alone to ponder this amazing experience. Manage your footwork and improve hand placement through rock climbing with Petzl Ambassador Heidi Wirtz, cultivate your love of photography with world-renowned photographer Chris Burkhard, or add some trail running tips to your repertoire of skills with REI’s Cyndi Wyatt — there over 200 activities to choose from while rubbing elbows with some of the most seasoned pioneers in the outdoor world.
As the sun starts to set, catch up with the ladies you just spent the day with at the Sunset Magazine Happy Hour on Saturday evening from 5-6pm, where you can enjoy some refreshing beer from Lagunitas, wine from West Wine Co, and tasty bites.
I’ve never heard of an all-women retreat in the wild, but for women who love the outdoors like myself, I’m glad it appeals to anyone who wants to hone in on the skills they already have, or challenge themselves to something new that they’ve never done before. Outessa is not only an inclusive outdoor adventure getaway, but also a place to get sweaty, dirty, and happy in the good company of other like-minded women.
The REI Outessa Summit is being held at Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Lake Tahoe on August 19-21. You can still choose between the 3-day option ($799), or if you want to dabble in a shorter trip, select the single day pass ($224-$249). If you can’t escape to the Sierras this time, another Outessa Summit will be offered at Powder Mountain, UT September 9-11. To register, go to outessa.com and we’ll see you there!
