Family fun at the Lake in the Sky air show
At a magnificent 6225’ elevation, Lake Tahoe is truly a lake in the sky. But the thrills do not stop at 6225’ -- it gets even more exciting with the annual Lake in the Sky Air Show at the Lake Tahoe Airport. The weekend-long extravaganza lifts off with a Pre-Flight Party at the Flight Deck Restaurant. There will be food and drinks, live music and guest speakers Bud Anderson, and Mig Killers Pete “Viper” Pettigrew and Mike “Wizzard” McCabe.
The activities for children are postcard moments that they will always remember! On August 24, start the morning with a stack of pancakes sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe. Demonstrations begin with skydiving and gliders, followed by the official opening ceremony at 10:30AM. Then it’s off to the skies with vintage Warbirds, helicopters, and bi-planes (oh my!).
Catch our very own Dreu Murin, high in the sky with Soaring NV!
And, for the inspired children and young adults, ages 8 to 18 who attend, there is an introduction to flying at no cost through the Young Eagles Program on Sunday, Aug 25. Those interested in participating must sign up with a parent at the Air Show on Saturday so don't miss it!
There is so much to experience over the three days. More information can be found here: http://www.lakeintheskyairshow.com/airshow_schedule.html
I have been a regular at the past several air shows and I am looking forward to attending this year's show. I cannot encourage you enough to take part in this awesome Lake in the Sky adventure. Once you have attended and witnessed the spellbinding drama in the skies, you will, like me and my “crew,” want to return year after year! I hope we meet at the lake in the sky where it only gets higher in excitement and amazement!
