With team names like, “Sweaty Dogs,” “Running And Trails And Bears Oh My!,” and “Llama Pants,” the Ragnar Relay Series is clearly for people who take themselves very seriously.
What is Ragnar?
Picture this: You and 11 of your closest friends running 200(ish) miles, day and night, relay-style, through some of the most scenic terrain North America could muster. Add in crazy runners, inside jokes and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or deodorant. We call it a Ragnar Relay. With three loops covering a good portion of Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort, the 2013 Ragnar Trail Tahoe Race was a true test of fitness, endurance, and costume-design. Add in that each team is required to run each loop eight times (a total of 24 loops!), and that the race doesn't stop when the sun goes down, and you have a true one-of-a-kind trail running experience in the making!
The Ragnar Relay Series continues at other locations this year, and we hope to see this event return to Tahoe South in 2014!
