Top Tahoe South sports bars for March Madness

When it comes to celebrating early spring at Tahoe South, Mother Nature usually (cross your fingers, dust off your snow dance) brings us a series of winter storms locals refer to as "Miracle March." These storms have been known to drop several feet of snow, making our spring skiing the best in the West.

The timing of these storms usually happen, ironically, during another miracle time of the year, NCAA Basketball March Madness.

You can ski all day in March, taking in the best snow conditions anywhere, and afterwards head to the sports bars where locals go to watch basketball playoff action. My tops sports bars are:

Lucky Beaver Bar and Burger: Burgers, beer and basketball -- what more could one ask for? Grab a seat at the 42-foot long bar that is equipped with gaming machines and watch your favorite teams on several flat screen TVs. If you're feeling lucky, the Lucky Beaver has a sports betting kiosk so you'll never lose a seat.

Straw Hat Pizza:  Known as the “the Locals“ Sports Bar with 20 large HDTVs, a 72-inch HDTV and more than $20,000 worth of sports memorabilia on the walls, this is a March Madness paradise. There's even a special Dish® televised sports package which will cover all the games. Straw Hat has at least 25 beers to choose from, huge pizza & wing selections and a 32-item salad bar.

Pizza Hut and WingStreet: It’s more than just pizza and wings; it is also a sports bar with flat screen TVs everywhere. You can catch any game on more than 10 flat screen TVs, dine on dozens of pizza and wing combos and there's plenty of cold beer.

On The Rocks Bar and Grill:  Tahoe South's newest sports bar located in the Roundhill Shopping Center. It has six flat-screen TVs and offers tapas, sandwiches, salads and full bar. March Madness will be highlighted!

Mo's Place: A favorite after-work sports bar where live games on any sports network rotate on flat screen TVs, plus there are pool tables and video games to play in between games.

Who is your pick for the NCAA March Madness championships?
