You’ve probably heard rumors about the CrossFit regimen being intense and competitive. Take a look for yourself: heavy lifting, speed and agility all in one, timed workout.
Well, let me tell you that those rumors are true, and the owners at South Tahoe CrossFit are just as intense about their workouts as they are about helping others.Every year South Tahoe CrossFit partners with the Growing Worldwide Opportunity Foundation to host Fittest of the Sierras, a CrossFit competition where all the proceeds go directly to charity. In the past the proceeds have gone to organizations like Sports Connections in South Lake Tahoe and Project Wave of Optimism, an organization that promotes sustainable community development in the surfing regions of Latin America.
This two-day event, scheduled June 15 and 16, challenges CrossFitters in the Sierra Nevada region (and beyond) to test their strength against others. Add in the extra factor of high-altitude training, and you’ve got yourself a close competition for a good cause.
Day 1 will be held at South Tahoe CrossFit’s 5,000-square-foot gym and Day 2 will be held at South Tahoe Middle School.
The competition features four divisions:
- Men’s 50+
- Men’s 50+
Registration opens March 15, limited competitor spots available.
- Early-bird: $75
- After April 1: $85
- After May 1: $95
