Growing up, my brothers and I looked forward to the Christmas tree on the lake in the middle of town lighting up for the holidays. We sang carols and stamped our feet in the cold, err, to the beat of the holiday music with our friends and family. And we prayed for snow. Mostly so we could get the day off school, but we prayed for snow like it was the next best thing to the Christmas miracle.
Fast forward thirty (coff) years, and I still pray for snow and look forward to a good old-fashioned tree lighting. This year, we are lucky enough to have both on the calendar for the same weekend.
