It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Walking around Heavenly Village in Tahoe South around the holidays, with Christmas lights glowing and people gathered around the fire-pits at Fire and Ice and the new Gunbarrel Tavern puts me in such a happy, festive mood.
Leave it to Heavenly, though, to go all in. As if the atmosphere of Heavenly Village isn't enough, with Heavenly Holidays set to begin on December 20 and running through December 31, Heavenly Village is being transformed into what seems like an auxiliary office of the North Pole.
Of course there will be an appearance from the big guy himself -- Yes, Virginia, there will be Santa Claus. December 20 - 24 you can get a little face time with Kris Kringle inside a 16 foot snow globe. While you try to decide between asking for an Easy Bake Oven or a Red Ryder BB gun, enjoy the sounds of the holidays with Christmas music spun by a DJ on December 21 and 22 and live carolers on December 23 and 24.
And with Heavenly Holidays there is no post-Christmas let down. December 28 to 30 you can check out some of the most talented figure skaters in the country at the Heavenly Ice Rink and watch amazing ice sculptors create an icy winter-wonderland.
On New Year’s Eve, bundle up and get outside! Why watch other people party on TV when we have our own party right here in Tahoe South? I'm talking about the world's only gondola ball drop. Yes, that's right; count down the beginning of a new year with a Heavenly decorated gondola car. A family-friendly event, the festivities count down on East Coast time – 9 p.m. There will also be live music, face-painting, and fire dancers. And for the over 21, after the countdown, you can keep the party going at the casinos.
You can bet I'll be taking in all that the Heavenly Holidays have to offer. I'm going all in. Are you?
