There are hundreds of great restaurants to choose from in Tahoe South, but I’m a sucker for a hot deal and I’m always on the lookout for the best happy hours. I love a menu with variety, cool drinks and of course, a patio with views of the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe.

Most restaurants and bars in Tahoe South offer happy hour Monday through Friday with a few exceptions. Here are some of my favorites:

Après Wine Company is a fantastic wine bar and bistro. Après features an amazing lineup of fine wines from all over the world and delicious food. Happy hour includes appetizers and beer, wine, and bubbly for $3 to $5. (3668 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150)

Blue Angel Café has a cozy fireplace, fun atmosphere and free Wi-Fi. The early bird menu features $3 drink specials and dollar off specialty coffees. The afternoon menu has $3 house wine by the glass, dollar off draft beer and food specials. The café also offers a variety of local California wines and beer on tap as well as a selection of bottled local microbrews. Psst! The fish tacos are great. (1132 Ski Run Blvd, South Lake Tahoe CA 96150)

The Brewery at Lake Tahoe is Lake Tahoe’s original brewery. The Brewery celebrates happy hour every day (oh yeah) at 3 pm with $4 well drinks and pints of microbrew beer and half priced nachos, wings and taquitos. It’s a great place to relax and dine on the outdoor patio or fireside. (3542 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150)

Chart House is one of my personal favorites with killer food and drink specials and an awesome view of the lake. For $4 to $6, enjoy spinach artichoke dip, ahi nachos, prime rib sliders, fish tacos and more. (392 Kingsbury Grade, Lake Tahoe, NV 89449)

Lakeside Inn & Casino, voted “Best Sports Bar,” boasts 40 TVs showing all the pro games. During any pro football game, enjoy $2 Bud Light bottles, well drinks and Tahoe Moonshine drinks along with $2 tacos and $5 personal pizzas. You can also take advantage of the daily $4.99 breakfast specials from 11 pm to 11 am and $3 well drinks at all the bars anytime of the day/year! (168 • Highway 50, Stateline, NV 89449)

Steamers Bar & Grill offers outdoor dining, flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi. Monday thru Friday, between 3 and 6 pm take $.75 off drinks, but the real deal is the $2.45 tacos all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday. On Fridays the fish tacos are $3.50 and a must-have! I know. I know. I mentioned fish tacos a few times. They are a-mazing in our little neck of the woods.
