Behind the scenes of Tahoe time-lapse video

Posted in Local Culture | September 27, 2012 | By Tahoe South

In case you haven’t heard, we love all things Tahoe.

We recently came across this awesome 10-month time lapse produced by local resident Justin Majeczky and friends. This video eloquently illustrates the timeless beauty of Lake Tahoe, the place we call home.

Curious about the making of the video and talent, we sat down with Justin to learn more about what inspired him to create “Tahoe Time.” Here’s what he had to say:

What inspired you to produce the video?

From the first moment I saw Lake Tahoe, I was just blown away. You can tell someone how great and beautiful it is, even show them photos, but nothing can display what you can perceive in person. “Tahoe Time” was an attempt to create the most stunning imagery and compile it into four minutes. I wanted to strike people deeper than a simple photograph or video clip can do.

I want people to enjoy the outdoors, specifically the Tahoe area. With the help of my friends Matthew Toddes, Jason Hogan, Matt Morning, Josh Larson, Kris Swanson, Nate Metcalf and my wife Cady, my dream became a reality. I could not have done it without them.

How long have you lived in Tahoe?

Three years. I moved from Gettysburg, Penn. with my wife Cady Majeczky. My cousin Kristi Bell is the main reason I moved to Tahoe. She and her husband Graham invited my wife and me to give Tahoe a try. I am grateful for that.

How did you get involved with photography and film?

I have been shooting since I was 13 years old. Filming my friends skateboarding and snowboarding was how I first got involved. My grandfather and great grandfather were award-winning photographers so the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

What else do you like to photograph in the area?

My main love is snowboard photography and video production. I like to follow my friends around and document special moments. I also like to shoot landscapes of Lake Tahoe. I have been called "Lake Tahoe's personal photographer." I kinda like that title...

It took 10 months of hard work and sleepless nights to shoot, edit and produce “Tahoe Time.” Take a look at some of the behind the scenes photos.
