You’re in South Lake Tahoe where we have fun all day, every day. Food and wine festival, Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race, mountain run, live music, comedy and a fireworks spectacular – it’s all on our agenda this Labor Day weekend.
Toot! That’s the sound of the whistle blowing as spectators cheer on California’s Tahoe Queen and Nevada’s M.S. Dixie II at the Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 10:30 am. This “battle of the paddle” is a four-mile race along the gorgeous shoreline of Lake Tahoe.
Ah, the thrill of a runner’s high. The Heavenly Mountain Run will get your adrenaline pumping with a 5.8-mile run ascending from the 6,565-foot California Base Lodge to the Tamarack Lodge at 9,150-feet, Sunday, Sept. 2.
Eat, drink and enjoy sampling the best flavors of El Dorado County at “Sample the Sierra.” Held on Ski Run Boulevard, the annual farm to fork festival is Sunday, Sept. 2 from 1 to 5 pm.
Ooh and ahh! The famed masters of pyrotechnics, Pyro Spectaculars will light up the night sky with color for the Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Extravaganza, Sunday evening at 8:30 pm. Prime viewing is available on Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, M.S. Dixie II, and Tahoe Queen.
Let your hair down and put on your dancin’ shoes. We love live music around here. Sammy Hagar will bring four decades of rock to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 8 pm.
- Nathan Owens Motown Legends will play some of the most memorable songs in American pop music history at the South Shore Room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Sept. 1-3.
- Bring your picnic basket, lawn chairs and sunscreen and enjoy music on the Grand Lawn at Valhalla on Sunday, Sept. 2 from noon to 2 pm.
The spontaneous, hilarious, improvised comedy at the Valhalla Estate’s Boathouse Theatre will make you laugh until you cry.
- Special guests Laura Hall, musical director from “Whose Line Is It Anyway," and Rick Hall, actor from “Curb Your Enthusiasm," will join the cast of Tahoe Improv Players Saturday, Sept. 1.
- The laughs continue Sunday, Sept. 2 with The Laura and Rick Hall show. The upbeat, family-friendly performance will be packed with original songs and humorous storylines.
Whatever is on your agenda this Labor Day, Tahoe South promises to fill your 3-day weekend with nonstop excitement.
