I was fortunate to take a ride on Camp Richardson’s Rum Runner Cruise last week. Oddly enough, despite living in Tahoe for more than six years, I had NEVER been on a boat on the lake! Can you believe that?!?
The weather was dark and stormy that day but it didn’t dampen our spirits! Surprisingly, it was warmer on the lake than it had been on shore. We ate far too much (is there such a thing?) of The Beacon’s famous calamari, drank their famous Rum Runners (you can now buy the cocktail mix for home), and set sail for Emerald Bay.

I’ve been to visit Vikingsholm Castle a gazillion times, but never by boat. It was a really wonderful way to spend an afternoon, rain clouds and all.

The Rum Runner cruise would be awesome if you were in Tahoe on vacation with a large group or family. You could reserve the boat for the entire party! In the summer, it also leaves every day at 1 and 3:30 pm for the hour and a half cruise to Emerald Bay and back. You can get more information online or call 530.542.6570 for reservations.
