(South Lake Tahoe, CA/NV)…On Thursday, April 26th TahoeChamber’s Annual Tourism Forum will bring Ralf Garrison, owner at Advisory Group Inc. and a professional Travel & Tourism Consultant, along with Dr. Emilynn Sheffield, Professor at CSU Chico’s Department of Recreation, Hospitality and Parks Management program, to town. This year’s theme “Trends in Tourism” will focus on changing demographics (millennial, ethnic, aging), the differences in the way they connect to recreation, and how they are shaping the tourism industry. You will also hear what types of accommodation units and amenities are most important to these “evolving travelers”.
As part of their fieldwork, a “Millennial Team” of 20 students from CSU Chico’s Recreation & Hospitality program will be asked to research our community and present a report card of their pre-arrival research, expectations and experiences. Upon their arrival to South Lake Tahoe, the students will be given different tour options including lodging, shopping, dining and recreational activities. Their results will be compiled and presented to community leaders to help improve our overall visitors’ experience. The students will also be looking for internships on the South Shore, so be sure to attend the Forum & BAHM to network with the new generation of travelers.
If you are a business who would like to connect with the students and learn more about internship opportunities, if you want to hear more about tourism trends, or if you are just looking for a great networking opportunity, mark your calendars for April 26th. The Tourism Forum is brought to you in partnership by TahoeChamber and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA) and is sponsored by the South Tahoe Alliance of Resorts (STAR). The Annual Tourism Forum will be held from 3-5pm at Harvey’s Cabaret Theater and will immediately be followed by a BAHM at the Hard Rock Café from 5-7pm. The Forum is just $15 for chamber members ($25 for non-members) and includes entry to the BAHM! Reserve your seat today by visiting www.TahoeChamber.org or calling Emily Abernathy at 775-588-1728 ext. 303.
